A Ministry to Build the Love of God in the Heart of the Warrior
The AMEN (American Military Evangelizing Nations) ministry is a mission effort overseen by the Elders of the Manchester Church of Christ, Manchester, Connecticut. Our purpose is to serve Christians in the United States Military encouraging them to grow in their faith in Jesus Christ, to evangelize their communities, to be spiritual leaders, and to plant churches wherever they are. We do this in part by connecting military Christians with local churches of Christ near U. S. Military installations anywhere in the world, or by starting a worship service on an overseas base or U.S. Navy ship.
The Story of AMEN
AMEN (American Military Evangelizing Nations) is a ministry begun by an Air Force Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) and his wife who understood the challenges of living a faithful Christian life while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. Don and Harriet Yelton had a vision of a ministry enabling military Christians to connect with a local church for worship, fellowship, and service wherever they were posted anywhere in the world. Beginning in 1976 under the White’s Ferry Road Church of Christ, AMEN has fulfilled that vision through its Locator Service, spiritual retreats, humanitarian outreach, and the camaraderie of those who live for Jesus while defending our nation.
