AMEN Military Ministry (American Military Evangelizing Nations) is a ministry of the churches of Christ, overseen by the elders of the Manchester Church of Christ. When you ask us to connect a service member with a church, you're trusting us with information about someone who serves our country. We take that trust seriously. This page explains what we collect, who sees it, and how long we keep it.
The short version
- We collect only what we need to connect a service member with a nearby congregation.
- We never sell, rent or trade your information, and we never use it for advertising.
- We don't share it with military commands, recruiters, government agencies or other organizations, except where the law requires it.
- Only AMEN's coordinators can see your request. The volunteer at a nearby church receives just what they need to reach out.
- We never publish where any individual service member is stationed or headed.
What we collect
When you request a church connection
- About you: your name, your relationship to the service member, your email, and your phone number if you give it.
- About the service member: their name, branch of service, the base, training site or ship they're heading to, and the approximate month they'll arrive. Optionally: their rank, email, phone number, and home congregation.
- How we can help, how you'd like to be contacted, whether the service member knows about the request and is comfortable with a local church contacting them, and anything you'd like us to know or pray about.
When a church signs up to receive service members
The congregation's name and location, the nearest installations, and the name, email and phone number of the contact person.
When you contact us or subscribe to the newsletter
Your name, email and message, or just your email address for the newsletter.
When you visit the site
We don't use advertising or analytics cookies, and we don't track you from site to site. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs and may set a security cookie to block automated attacks. These aren't used to identify you. When you send a form, we briefly keep a scrambled code made from your internet address and email so we can block automated abuse; it can't be turned back into either one, and it's deleted within 24 hours.
How your request is used
- Our coordinator reviews your request and finds a member of a church of Christ near the service member's base or ship. We call that volunteer a Keyman.
- The Keyman receives what they need to welcome the service member: name, rank, branch, location, approximate arrival, and any notes that will help.
- If you've told us the service member is comfortable being contacted, we may share their email or phone number with that Keyman. If not, we give the Keyman your contact information instead, so the first conversation goes through you.
- Keymen get a private link to tell us when they've made contact. That link expires after 60 days and never displays anyone's contact details.
- We use your contact details to follow up with you about the request, and for nothing else.
Who can see it
- AMEN's coordinators, each with their own sign-in. Our website team can also access the system to maintain it.
- The Keyman you're referred to, limited to what's described above.
- The public map on our Find a Church page shows only installations and congregations — never the names or contact details of service members, families or Keymen.
Services we rely on
We use a small number of trusted providers to run the site. They handle information only to provide their service to us:
- Our website host and database (Lovable Cloud).
- Our email delivery service (Resend), which sends confirmations and referral emails.
- Map images come from OpenStreetMap. Your browser requests them directly, so OpenStreetMap sees your internet address when you view the map.
- Bible Study videos play from BibleTalk.tv through YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. YouTube may set cookies once you press play.
- Gifts are made through Tithe.ly, on Tithe.ly's own secure page, under Tithe.ly's privacy policy. We never see your card or bank details.
How long we keep it
- Requests are kept as part of AMEN's ministry history so we can recognize returning families and count how many people we've served.
- Five years after a request is closed, we remove the email addresses and phone numbers of the requester and service member. We keep only what's needed for our records, such as names, locations and outcomes.
- Church sign-ups, messages and newsletter addresses are kept until you ask us to remove them, or until they're no longer needed.
How we protect it
Everything you send travels over an encrypted connection. Requests are stored in a secured database that can't be read from the public website, and only signed-in AMEN coordinators can see them. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect, who can see it, and how long we keep it.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the information we hold about you or about a service member you referred, withdraw a request, or stop receiving the newsletter. Email amen.ministry@comcast.net or call (860) 372-7051. Please don't include sensitive details when you write.
Children
This site is meant for adults. If you're helping a young recruit, please submit the request yourself.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
